My diverse practice serves individuals and businesses in southwestern Fairfield County and southern Vermont in family law, real estate, estate planning, probate, and business law.

I am both a veteran trial lawyer and an effective negotiator. When clients come to me eager to head to trial, I am the voice of restraint urging them to step back and look at the big picture. It may turn out that a trial is the best path, but my philosophy from 40 years of experience in civil litigation is that out-of-court settlements are usually better for all in the long run. This is especially true in divorce settlements and child custody matters in which the parents will have an ongoing relationship.

My Background

I have practiced law since 1966, primarily in civil litigation. I have worked in Washington, D.C. and Boston before settling for a number of years in Vermont. I have been a partner in larger firms and a solo attorney. When I moved to Connecticut 10 years ago, I began focusing on family law and transactional law in business and real estate. In 2002, I resumed solo practice as Eric Anderson, Attorney at Law. While I work to resolve disputes and avoid future conflicts, I am a proven advocate in the courtroom when alternatives to trial have been exhausted.

I am a retired Colonel in the United State Air Force, and previously worked as a Judge Advocate General (JAG). In Vermont, I was appointed to the Lawyers Professional Conduct Board and served as chairman for four years. I continue to be interested in ethical issues as they pertain to the legal profession, I am honest with my clients and maintain the utmost integrity in negotiations and at trial.
